Simultaneous Monte Carlo analysis of parton densities and fragmentation functions

چکیده
We perform a comprehensive new Monte Carlo analysis of high-energy lepton-lepton, lepton-hadron and hadron-hadron scattering data to simultaneously determine parton distribution functions (PDFs) in the proton hadron fragmentation (FFs). The includes all available semi-inclusive deep-inelastic single-inclusive ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ annihilation for pions, kaons unidentified charged hadrons, which allows flavor dependence be constrained. Employing multistep fitting strategy more flexible parametrizations both PDFs FFs, we assess impact different datasets on sea quark densities confirm previously observed suppression strange distribution. fit, refer as ``JAM20-SIDIS,'' will allow improved studies universality correlation functions, including transverse momentum dependent (TMD) distributions, across wide variety process, matching collinear TMD factorization descriptions.

Fragmentation functions and their role in determining the polarized parton densities
We extract the pion fragmentation functions and their uncertainties from a judicious choice of e + e − and semi-inclusive DIS data. These are used to study the error propagation in the extraction of polarized parton densities from semi-inclusive DIS asymmetries. We conclude that the uncertainties on polarized PDs have been underestimated in the past.
متن کاملFragmentation functions from semi-inclusive DIS pion production and implications for the polarized parton densities
By combining recent HERMES data on semi-inclusive DIS π-production with the singlet fragmentation function Dπ + Σ , which is well determined from e e data, we are able to extract, for the first time, the flavoured fragmentation functions Dπ + u , D π d and D π s without making any assumptions about favoured and unfavoured transitions. Whereas Dπ + u and D π d are very well determined, the accur...
متن کاملDiffusion Monte Carlo study of jellium surfaces: Electronic densities and pair correlation functions.
We present the results of fixed-node diffusion Monte Carlo calculations of jellium surfaces for metallic densities. We used a trial wave function of the Slater-Jastrow type, with the long-range part of the two-body term modified to account for the anisotropy of the system. The one-body term is optimized so that the electronic density from variational and diffusion Monte Carlo calculations agree...
متن کاملA QCD Analysis of Polarised Parton Densities
We present the results of a QCD fit to global data on deep-inelastic polarised lepton-hadron scattering. We find that it is possible to fit the data with strongly broken SU(2) flavour for the polarised sea densities. This can easily be tested in W production at polarised RHIC. The data fails to pin down polarised singlet sea quark and gluon densities. We explore the uncertainties in detail and ...
متن کاملCalculating dilepton rates from Monte Carlo simulations of parton production.
To calculate dilepton rates in a Monte Carlo simulation of ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions, one usually scales the number of similar QCD processes by a ratio of the corresponding differential probabilities. We derive the formula for such a ratio especially for dilepton bremsstrahlung processes. We also discuss the non-triviality of including higher order corrections to direct Drell-Yan p...
